Prof. Łuczak awarded Polish national distinction
We are honored to announce that PUMS Professor Jacek Łuczak, MD, PhD, has been awarded the Commandeer’s Cross of the Order of Polonia Restituta by the President of Poland.
This Polish national distinction with 100 years of tradition is awarded for exceptional achievements and merits in education, science, sports, culture, arts, economy, country’s defence, social activism, service to the country and development of good relations with other countries.
Prof. Luczak is the founder of the Palium Hospice in Poznan and former professor at PUMS Department of Palliative Medicine. He was awarded the European Citizen’s Prize by the European Parliament in 2012. His work towards the development of palliative care, his efforts to strengthen the cooperation of specialists in this field from various EU countries and building model doctor-patient relationships have been admirable. Even more so his work with the patients and as head of the first-in-Europe university Department of Palliative Care and of the hospice.
